ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
I was born in Battle Creek, Michigan (The Cereal Capital of the World) in 1949. We moved to Irving, Texas, in 1959, in order for my father to take a new job. I lived there until I graduated from Irving High School (Go Tigers!) in 1968. With the Viet Nam war in full swing, I entered the Air Force upon graduation from High School. Serving both in the United States and overseas in the Philippines, I left the Air Force in 1972 and moved back to Battle Creek, landed a job with the Federal Government there and started college at Kellogg Communtity College. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a BA in History. Working in a variety of computer-related positions, I finally moved to Quincy, Illinois in 1997 where I love now.
PERSONAL INTERESTS:
My personal interests include Stamp Collecting (My Window to the World), Accounting, Business Organization Models, Science Fiction Series and Films, Old movies in general, Dr. Who (Tom Baker Rocks), 60's Rock & Roll, World History, Current Events, COBOL Computer Programming, and Politcal Science.
WHY I WRITE:
There are 2 primary reasons why I enjoy writing. First I enjoy writing about areas of collecting that have been overlooked by the hobby in general. Secondly, I enjoy developing characters and weaving both them and events into a tale that tells a story in a way that, I hope, catches the reader's attention and has them wondering how it will end until the last chapter. My interest in writing began when I taught Computer Science in Moberly, Missouri, at the Community College there. I noticed that if I taught dates, places, and facts alone that my students had a hard time recalling them for their exams. I also noticed that if I gave them the same infomation in a story format that they paid more attention to the material in class and did far better on their exams. I used to tell them stories about different historical events to break up the information to make it more interesting and they remembered those as well long after they graduated from Community College.
